From 1992 to 1996 we teamed up with ABC and the Centers for Disease Control to produce annual primetime specials focused on AIDS and sexuality. By interspersing important information about AIDS and safe sex practices with musical numbers and comedy routines, the In a New Light series tackles an uncomfortable issue in an approachable way. Celebrities and everyday Americans alike share their stories and experiences dealing with AIDS, whether it has affected them personally, through the loss of family members or friends, or whether they simply realize the need to inform themselves and raise awareness for this issue. Matt Rouch of USA Today describes it as a “Star-sprinkled reality check intended for teens and parents to watch together,” adding, “This Light shines with the harsh glare of unpleasant truths. By never mincing words, the show says a lot.”
