The American Society of Hematology commissioned this feature length documentary, Blood Detectives, to call the public’s attention to the fascinating work of hematologists by showcasing the mysteries of blood diseases and the doctors who fight them. This hour-long piece follows the best in the field as they pass on their knowledge to new doctors and patients – and sometimes race against time – in an attempt to better understand this odd inner landscape, and make a difference in the world around them.

The film premiered on Discovery Health and was distributed by WETA on Public Television across the country. Scholastic now brings the film and a study guide to high schools, while segments of the film have been used on the web and to inform members of Congress on the work being done.

“It is rare indeed for commercial television to produce a program of such high-quality as the two-and-a-half-hour documentary Cancer: Evolution to Revolution…If you do not have cable, I urge you to visit a friend who does...”
