Filmed during the most tumultuous period in African health politics, State of Denial looks beyond South Africa’s shocking statistics of ”nearly five million HIV positive citizens with another seventeen hundred infected each day” to the people directly affected by this deadly disease. Intimate conversations with dozens of South Africans capture the unbreakable spirit of a people determined to conduct their lives with dignity, grace, and humor.

The film premiered at Sundance Film Festival and broadcast nationwide on public television stations as part of P.O.V. Series.
